Child abuse suspect arrested after hiding out in victim's Porterville attic overnight: PD

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man accused of child abuse and domestic violence was arrested Friday morning after hiding out in his victim’s attic overnight.

Police identified the suspect as 21 -year-old Rosendo Gutierrez.

Police say they first tried contacting him on Wednesday; however, they say he hid in an attic and slipped away.

The next night, around 7 p.m., they received a tip from his girlfriend (who was also the victim) that he had shown up at her apartment in the 500 block of W. Springville Avenue.

By the time police arrived, he was in the attic again, where he allegedly stayed all night long.

SWAT finally busted in around 9 a.m. Friday, and soon found he slipped into and locked himself in a storage closet.

When found, police say he instantly gave up.

Porterville Police say he was arrested on charges of child abuse, domestic violence, home invasion burglary, and intimidating a witness.
