The JCF Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Matheson to its board.

Matheson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Middlebury College, where his academic work focused on governance, law, and policy analysis. Matheson brings a range of leadership and management experience to the board. As a partner in Sweetpea and Peaches and Mariposa Summit Partners, he has managed operations, compliance, financial coordination, and growth planning. He also has experience in stakeholder engagement and constituent outreach. Matheson has been extremely involved in local organizations such as the Mariposa County Friends of the Library since returning home to Mariposa after graduating in 2025.

Before joining the Foundation board, Matheson began serving on its events committee and has taken the lead as the chair of this year’s Black and White Ball, the Foundation’s premiere fundraising event, happening Saturday, November 7, at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, Building A. (Tickets available soon!)

“We appreciate Michael’s enthusiasm and leadership,” said Foundation president Heather Bernikoff.  “He joined the events committee and immediately stepped up to lead our biggest fundraising event of the year. He’s doing a fantastic job and has wonderful, creative ideas. The Foundation board is happy to have him on our larger team.”

“I am honored to join the Hospital Foundation Board and to continue my work supporting the hospital on the events committee,” Matheson said. “The Foundation serves a vital role in strengthening our community and our hospital. I encourage anyone interested in getting involved to join a committee or donate.”

The JCF Hospital Foundation’s other board members are Heather Bernikoff, President; Mike Wichmann, Vice President; Jill Harry, Secretary; Beth Tomsick, Fundraising Committee Chair; Mari Bullis, Vending Program Coordinator; Zulema Valdez, Finance Committee Member; and Steve Indendi, Member-at-Large. Miranda Wass is the Hospital Foundation’s Executive Administrator.
