The Rock Canyon Fire is a lightning-caused wildfire that was discovered on June 15, 2026, at 1:47 PM. The fire is currently estimated at approximately 1000 acres based on heat signatures and is located within the Kaibab National Forest, approximately 9 miles south of Highway 89 and 9 miles west of House Rock Valley Road.
The fire is exhibiting extreme fire behavior including active running, torching, and spotting. Containment has not yet been determined.
Approximately 50 personnel are on scene from the U.S. Wildland Fire Service (USWFS), operating in coordination with the Kaibab National Forest (USFS) and National Park Service (NPS) under the Arizona Strip District. A Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT) has been ordered. Air resources actively supporting suppression efforts include multiple Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) and a Large Air Tanker (LAT). Additional ground and air resources are on order.
Structures and private property are threatened. Firefighter and public safety remain the highest priority.
