As the country prepares for celebrations of all sizes to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary, Visit Yosemite | Madera County has announced a lineup of events throughout the region highlighting local red, white, and blue pride.
Visitors traveling through the area can look up and enjoy 33 community art banners lining local streets. Created with a special message from the Welcoming Committee, the banners celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and help welcome residents and visitors alike.
Bass Lake will be bustling with activity during the Fourth of July weekend. Festivities begin Friday, July 3, at 7 p.m. with the Patriotic Parade at The Pines Village.
On Saturday, July 4, celebrations continue with an afternoon of barbecues, live music, and fireworks. The annual Fourth of July Boat Parade on Bass Lake begins at 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks display over the lake at 9 p.m.
In the Central Valley, families can attend the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at the Madera District Fairgrounds. Activities begin at 5 p.m. and include food, live music, games, and a fireworks show beginning at dusk. A complete list of regional events and celebrations is available online.
Also on July 4, Westbrook Wine Farm will release its first-ever wine that co-ferments all eight red Bordeaux varieties grown at the vineyard into a single blend.
The wine, named E Pluribus Unum, combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Carménère, Gros Verdot, and Saint-Macaire to create a Malmsey-style dessert wine intended to embody the spirit of the nation.
The Summer of Celebration will continue throughout the season at Bass Lake, which marks its 125th anniversary in 2026.
On Aug. 15, the region will host a lake-wide birthday celebration featuring activities at businesses around the lake and at local resorts, including The Pines Resort, The Forks Resort, and Miller’s Landing Resort. Visitors can find a complete event calendar through the Bass Lake Chamber and purchase commemorative America250-themed merchandise, including anniversary T-shirts.
“I remember the bicentennial celebration for America’s 200th birthday; although I was pretty young, the atmosphere was so celebratory that year,” said Rhonda Salisbury, CEO of Visit Yosemite | Madera County. “I really want to recreate those feelings throughout our small towns in Madera County. We want visitors and locals to feel America’s 250th spirit all over the region.”
Visit Yosemite | Madera County is also encouraging travelers to take advantage of easier access to Yosemite National Park this year.
In 2026, Yosemite National Park is open without a reservation requirement, allowing visitors easier access to destinations including El Capitan, Glacier Point, Tuolumne Meadows, and the Giant Sequoias.
Visitors are encouraged to purchase a digital entrance pass before arriving, text “Yosemite” to 33311 for real-time parking and traffic alerts inside the park, and arrive early to maximize their time in the park.
For travelers seeking a broader Sierra Nevada experience, the Majestic Mountain Loop offers a self-guided itinerary connecting Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon National Parks. Guided tour options are also available for those who prefer a professionally planned experience.
