A fire has ignited in The Soldier Creek wilderness area of Nebraska National Forest, Pine Ridge Ranger District.

Named the South Fork Fire, initial responders included local US Forest Service  and Volunteer Fire Fighting cooperators. Five additional engines, four more crews, and air support has been  requested. The fire is currently estimated at 500 acres.
