Building that caught fire was going to be sold, Fresno City College says

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno City College building that burnt in a weekend fire was due to be sold off, according to college officials.

The fire at the building formerly used by Fresno City College started on Saturday afternoon.

Fresno Fire was called to the scene near East and Annadale avenues at around 5:15 p.m. to find heavy smoke coming from an office building at the former Fresno City College Career and Technology Center.

Officials say the building sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire.

According to the State Center Community College District, the building has been empty ever since programs moved to the West Fresno Center and First Responders Campus.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and under investigation, fire officials say.
