
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A motorcyclist died Friday after a dog ran into the roadway in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol said.
At around 6:05 p.m., officers were called to the area of Avenue 7 and Road 35 for a solo vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, officers talked to the motorcyclist, who at the time was alert and conscious. The rider told officers that he was traveling eastbound on Avenue 7 when a dog ran into the roadway.
CHP said that the rider, a 42-year-old man from Fresno, was riding a 2012 Yamaha motorcycle and was approaching Road 35 when he subsequently veered off the roadway into the dirt shoulder.
During the crash, he was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. He was transported to CRMC in Fresno.
While at the hospital, the rider died due to his injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.
