The Meadow View Fire started at approximately 7:30 PM April 6, 2026 and is located approximately 17 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Texas A&M Forest Service was requested to provide assistance in the form of additional firefighters, aircraft and heavy equipment.  Texas A&M Forest Service and Potter County Fire Department are in joint command of the fire.

By 10:00 PM April 6, the fire was exhibiting moderate spread with mostly backing and flanking fire with a little bit of running behavior. The fire is burning drainages with rough topography. By 2:00 AM April 7, 2026, crews had made progress over the left and right flank of the fire.

At 6:00 AM Tuesday, equipment had tied in line on the head of the fire. Aviation resources are requested to fly the fire Tuesday morning.

April 7, 10:30 AM - Crews have been able to construct line around a majority of the fire. Due to the steep topography of the Canadian River, much of the line is indirect. The plan of action for today is to tie in unchecked lines. Fixed wing and rotor aircraft are on their way to the fire. Aircraft will work on active flanks in the canyon bottoms. Dozers will work to construct a north to south line, cutting off a large pocket of green fuel. Dozers will also be used on the west flank of the fire.
