Drowsy driver survives rollover crash in Merced County: CHP

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A drowsy driver walked away with only leg pain after a rollover crash near Atwater Friday morning, according to the CHP.

Just before 3 a.m., officers received a call about a driver who was traveling on Highway 99, just south of the Atwater Merced Expressway.

California Highway Patrol said that the driver fell asleep behind the wheel. The driver left the roadway and his vehicle overturned multiple times.

CHP said that the driver walked away with only leg pain.

CHP reminds people that if they’re feeling drowsy to pull over and rest.
