DOJ: Fresno felon sentenced after being found with 'ghost gun'

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fresno man who is a felon was sentenced Monday after being found with a “ghost gun,” the Department of Justice said.

Raymond Jessie Rodriguez, 29 of Fresno, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

According to court documents, in March 2024, three days after being released from state prison, Rodriguez got into a gunfight where he allegedly shot and killed another person in Fresno. He then fled the scene.

At the time of the arrest, Rodriguez was found after a weeklong manhunt, and he was carrying a ghost gun, which is an unserialized and untraceable privately manufactured firearm. There was also a high-capacity magazine containing 25 rounds of ammunition.

Rodriguez was serving a term of post-release community supervision following his most recent convictions in Fresno County.
