HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Hanford man has been arrested and faces several serious charges following two gun incidents at a bar four months apart, Hanford police said.
On Feb. 14, officers were called to the Sequoia Club in the 100 block of North Irwin Street for a report of shots fired.
They learned that about 10 rounds had been fired towards the bar, sending a security guard to the hospital with injuries. Police say he is recovering and is expected to survive. Additionally, the establishment’s building and some nearby vehicles were also struck.
Investigators say the gunman, determined to be 23-year-old Desmond Andrews, was known to the establishment’s employees and had been asked to leave that night, yet made the choice to return with the weapon.
Police said the reason he was removed on Valentine’s Day was that he was involved in a previous gun incident back on Oct. 3, 2025. It was then, they said, that he fired several rounds into the air while leaving the area that night.
On March 13, Andrews was located at a home in the 1400 block of 9 1/4 Avenue in Hanford, where he was taken into custody by the Hanford Regional SWAT team. Investigators say that while they were there serving their search warrant, they also seized a vehicle believed to have been used in both incidents.
Andrews was booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, exhibiting a firearm in an aggravated manner, and negligent discharge of a firearm.
