MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 21-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting at a gas station in Merced County.

According to the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, the victim was sitting in his vehicle outside the gas station when the suspect shot at him – and then fled the scene. The victim went to the hospital with an injury to his forehead.

The suspect was later found at a home in Hilmar, where he was arrested. The firearm was also recovered. The suspect was identified by deputies as 21-year-old Reynoso Deluna.

Officials say Deluna was booked into the Merced County Jail for attempted murder. Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
