Fresno jewelry store closes after 34 years in business

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A Fig Garden Village store closed Saturday, after more than three decades in business.

The Vault Fine Jewelry owners Gary and Elaine Yervan have spent 34 years crowning Valley residents with jewelry – 34 Valentine’s Days participating in local love stories.

“I wouldn’t have done it any differently. I can tell you that for sure,” Gary Yervan said.

This Valentine’s Day is the store’s last, though.

“We’re pushing 70 years old now. So we’ve decided to retire so that we can have a little fun and go travel,” Elaine Yervan said.

The couple says they are looking forward to the next adventure, but it’s bittersweet to look back on this adventure.

“We’re a part of the American dream. You know, we started off with a little tiny store across the way, and we had lots of struggles trying to get the financing together,” Elaine Yervan said.

Eventually, they were able to bring on employees like Kelly Kim, who has worked there for 20 years.

“It’s not even a job. It was so much fun working here, helping people and celebrating their precious moments,” Kim said.

She says it was about more than making a sale.

It was about getting to know the community and helping them make sparkling memories.

“What a future it will be, but what a wonderful past it’s been,” Gary Yervan said.

Even though The Vault Fine Jewelry, as it was, has now breathed its last, the owners have sold the business to someone else.

Kim will take it over in April, reopening it under the name ‘Artisan Jewelers.’

She looks forward to many more years serving the community.
