North Fork, CA – The Sierra Vista Scenic Byway Association (SVSBA) and the community of North Fork are excited to present the 30th Annual Grizzly Gravel & Century Charity rides on Saturday, October 4, 2025.

Whether riding the new Gravel routes that the SVSBA added a few years ago, or the classic traditional paved routes of the Century & Metric Road rides, riders will experience the beauty, tranquility & adventure of the Sierra National Forest. Spotlighting the Scenic Byway, all proceeds from this event will go to support the SVSBA.

Gravel riders will enjoy the tranquil climb in the forests’ shade, granite domes, and lush meadows. The climb is long, but gentle, railroad-grade fire road. Riders will descend the dirt portion to the Scenic Byway, which few ever see, rated as the 2nd Best Ride in 2023 by Gravel Bike California.

Gravel riders opting for an easier day can follow the main gravel ride up Central Camp Road, complete a “lollipop loop” by merging back onto Central Camp, and then descend back down to Bass Lake.

Road riders will enjoy gorgeous views of Redinger and Mammoth Pool lakes, many exposed granite domes, Eagle Beak Peak, the Sierra National Forest, Beasore Meadow, and more.

So whether riders choose the grueling Century with it 10,000′ of elevation gain & the “Alpe de Griz” climb up to Beasore Meadows, or the Gravel Route with it’s 60+ miles 6,000′ of gain up Central Camp Rd through the lush forest (which also climbs to Beasore), they will no doubt enjoy expansive views of lakes, numerous granite domes, and lush meadows.

Riders looking for an easier day can choose the paved road riders’ Metric Century, which climbs the same road as the regular Century but is simply an over-and-back to Shuteye Trail, approximately 30 miles from the start.

For those seeking the shortest route, consider the 25-mile Loop the Lake ride.

Four of the five routes go right past the iconic Bass Lake Millers Landing. There, registered riders can stop in for a free beer. The last leg of the trip is a short pedal back into North Fork, where registered riders will be treated to a free post-ride meal & another free beer.

It is too soon to check the forecast, but historically, the weather for the event has been excellent.

The dirt sections of the gravel routes see almost zero vehicular traffic. The paved sections are not closed to vehicles, but traffic tends to be very light.

The Scenic Byway continues to need cyclists’ support to improve areas scarred by historic fires. Profits earned go directly to the Scenic Byway and other projects that benefit our community of North Fork.

This ride is permitted by the USFS.
