12 hours: Creeping and smoldering in heavy dead fuels and deep duff beneath heavy canopy cover. A warming and drying trend will begin to slowly reduce fuel moistures and increase ERC values. Minimal growth is expected, as surface fuels will remain too wet to support surface fire spread. Winds will remain light, overnight humidity recovery is expected to be good.
24 hours: A warmer and drier period is expected to continue, which fuels are expected to begin slowly drying out and ERC values slowly increase. Fuels will remain moist and below average for the time of year. Winds will increase from the east, helping to dry fuels faster. Minimal growth is expected and fire behavior will remain as creeping and smoldering as fuels will remain too wet to support surface fire growth.
48 hours: Warming and drying continuing with moderate temps and RH. Winds will moderate, with clear skies, moderate temps and lower RH. ERC values are expected to continue to increase but remain below average and available for active surface fire growth. Overnight humidity recovery is still expected to be good which will slow the drying of fuels and extend the time needed for fuels to recover to a burnable level.
72 hours: Warmer and drier weather pattern continues. Expected fire behavior is still creeping and smoldering in heavy fuels. Minimal fire growth is anticipated. ERC values may rise somewhat but remain below average. Winds will remain light and generally less than 10 mph.
